An excellent drive at a great Amazon price November 19, 2008

This drive was exactly what I wanted:

- large capacity
- FW800
- USB2
- eSata
- quiet (no fan)
- HFS pre-formatted for Mac
- easy configuration utility to convert to a mirrored drive array
- easy to exchange drives
- stylish
- compact

I have had very good luck with Western Digital drives so far. Hopefully this one will continue that trend. I considered purchasing a Drobo FW800, but some people have commented that their reliability is suspect and have lost their data when attempting to do a firmware upgrade on them. Also, their FW800 speed isn't as fast as other competing drives.

The only bummer about this drive is that I bought it from Amazon for a great price but now they are selling it for an additional $55 less than I paid for it for it 3 weeks ago.

I bought this external hard drive three weeks ago. It was delivered on time and there was absolutely no issues regarding shipment (as is the usual for shopping with Amazon).
Although the drive is supposed to be an Apple-drive it was easily formatted and attached to my Windows Vista Ultimate system via eSATA. Both USB and IEEE1394 is way too slow so eSATA is a very nice option from Western Digital.
I've ripped my DVD collection and even though I have more than 200 DVDs on this drive I still have abt. 1TB left of space ;-)
I will not hessitate recommending this drive for anyone with the need for massive external storage!

I bought this drive to serve as a backup disk for my iMac. Its working great, and the large capacity allows for "longer" range of backup..
I can go back over amonth and restore files long lost.

I bought this for an added hard drive for my Apple Time Capsule. Why WD? I have owned several external HD's and Western Digital drives have given great service with little or no problems. This one has been in service for about a month and a half and to date there have been no problems. Delivery was prompt and I think the price is excellent for the product.

All I can say is they keep on hitting it out of the park. This unit was perfect to add to my addition. I installed it a Windows Vista and it was simple. I would not even know it was external because of how fast the seek time is. It is a definate purchase if you are in the market for 2GB of space.
