4 out of 5 stars A cheap alternative to the other HTPC cases   May 23, 2007

I never built a HTPC before ,but Thermaltakes case made sense right away. I can tell there are options that i did not buy with my case ,that i am missing all ready. I should have purchased the optional lcd that mounts inside the front cover ,giving status ,song info ,movie info ,or a spectrum analyzer.
opening the unit reveals a well thought out case, with room for 2 5.25 drives ,and 4 hard drives. the wires for the case are clearly labeled and actually
match the spelling on the asus mobo , (unlike some cases). The case fans are suprisingly quiet. I had reason to replace the power supply ,and ended up getting a thermaltake supply. It came with a rubber gasket to insulate it from rattling the pc case. Wow ! very little noise at all. I love my case.

2 out of 5 stars Don't get into this.   January 22, 2007

I just built a new system, so, the "old" computer is going to the movie lounge.

As a previous owner of a Thermaltake Xaser III owner, I liked the designs of this guys. And wanted to add a Media Center PC in my movie lounge.

If you are looking for this kind of case, you know what kind of gear you are going to put in this. You are not going to put any cheap gear.

There's no space inside for cables (bad for airflow). You need to have short PCI cards, 'cause they'll get in the way of the hard drive connectors.

You can't use more than 1 Optical Drive cause it will get in the way of the PSU-Motherboard cables.

I'm going to try to get a picture upload so you can see what I'm talking about.

Don't buy this.

My system is:
Motherboard DFI: LanParty
CPU: Intel P4HT 2.8Ghz
RAM: 2GB Dual Channel
2 120 HD's Raid 1 for Software and Games
2 120 HD's Raid 1 for Audio and Video Files.
1 Audigy 2Z Platinum
1 Sony 8x DL DVD writer.
1 AGP Ati Radeon 9800Pro

I believe a nice setup for a Multimedia PC.....as this is my "old" PC.

2 out of 5 stars Good for SD Video and Audio. Otherwise...   August 28, 2008

I am normally not too picky about asthetics. But, I have sunk abou $25K into a home theater and I was looking for a HTPC case that would fit in. The Bach looked like it, on paper.

The build quality is good. With five internal 3.5" bays I thought I had a case for the dedicated OS drive and RAID 10 array I was looking for to store media, including HD video. Other reviews had noted the third external bay was unusable, this was OK for my application.

So, how did it turn out? This case will be fine if you're looking for a SD system with modest storage. The cage with two drive bays could not be installed with the ATI HD3870 video card in any of the three PCIEX16 slots on the Asus P53E Deluxe motherboard I had selected. Also, the cage with three drive bays interfered with the power supply plug to the motherboard. Since the drives are mounted vertically you're simply SOL with even one drive. Also, the fourth DDR3 DIMM slot appears to be unusable if any drives are mounted in these bays.

In short, this will be my first item ever returned to Amazon.com.
